I have been trying to keep up with reading all the lovely blogs I follow and to post a bit about our trip, but it's tough because internet access is not always easy during travel. We have had free WiFi at all of our hotels/B&B's, but sometimes you can only connect from a main room, which makes posting/surfing the net less convenient. I have taken lots more photos, but I haven't uploaded them yet, so I think I will wait until I am back in Germany to post any more. We are having a fantastic time and I am just loving all the time I get to spend with my husband! We started our trip in Dublin, which was fun, but when we headed towards the coast, we really started to see parts of Ireland that we love. The countryside is picturesque and beyond beautiful. I can't wait to post some pics for you to see! Our B&B in Cork was fantastic as was the place we stayed for two nights in Dingle. The room was fantastic and HUGE, the food was fantastic, and we walked around all day just taking in the beauty of the landscape.
Yesterday we drove around the Dingle Peninsula and then drove to Galway and stayed the night there. We were not really too thrilled with the city as it paled in comparison to the sights of the countryside we had just spent days admiring, so we decided to change our plans up a bit. Originally, we were planning on heading back to Dublin today, then changed our minds and booked two nights in Galway. Although the hotel looked amazing and I was really looking forward to having access to a gym, we were missed the quaint, cozy B&B feel, so we decided to visit the Cliffs of Moher and stay the night at a B&B in a little town called Doolin instead. I did enjoy a nice mani/pedi this morning and the hubs got a full body Swedish massage at the hotel spa, but we checked out after getting pampered and drove to the cliffs. I thought it would be a good idea to include some proper hotels in the mix of our tour around Ireland, but it turns out the Bed Breakfast places are definitely the way to go. They are far superior to both "hotels" we booked.
We didn't stay long at the Cliffs of Moher because we got hit with a bad rainstorm, but the views were fantastic. We were surprised at how many people ignored the cement barrier warning visitors not to go beyond the memorial dedicated to all of the people who have lost their lives at the cliffs. We were not about to take the chance of walking close to the wet, slippery edge in the middle of a rainstorm with gusty winds. I prefer the view from afar!
I am loving this trip and am super excited that I get another entire week off from school once we return. Two weeks for spring break in Europe=happy teachers :0) I always feel like I need a vacation from my vacations, so next week will be all about getting laundry done and working off all the Irish coffees, buttered scones, and good Irish food I have been eating. I have been reading up a storm and that makes me so happy. I finally finished the book Three Cups of Tea after putting it down without finishing a few times before. I have heard mixed reviews (some people LOVED it and others thought it was REALLY boring). I thought it was okay...inspiring, but not a thrilling read. I bought the book The Help in Dingle and have almost finished it in a matter of days--it's that good. I highly recommend it! SO good. I also bought two Jodi Piccoult books for 5 Euros at a used paperback book store, so I am all set with books to read for awhile!
Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend! I probably won't post until I get back on Sunday, but stay tuned for some beautiful pics!
