"Hey! I was there first!"
Normally, when I hear these words, I roll my eyes anticipating a squabble between two kiddos who both want to be the line leader.
Today, hearing these words made me happy.
Why?
They came from a little girl who was silent in my classroom until about February because she is still learning English.
Go girl!

You know what's weird- I've had a good about of ELL kids and never had a true silent period... weird huh?
I'll think of you tomorrow when I hear this phrase for the 200000th time tomorrow haha
